The City has embraced the goal of supporting new and re-occurring special events sponsored by local nonprofit organizations. City funds have been programmed to offset city fees and charges and used to enhance the promotion and experience at events. Applicants can request funds by contacting the Community Services Department and submitting a completed Affiliate Funds Application. Applications are reviewed and funds are awarded on an individual basis.  All funding allocations must be approved by City Council. These funds are one-time and budgeted on a year-by-year basis, and once exhausted, additional budgeted funds are not available until the next fiscal year.

A supplemental request of $70,000 for Affiliate Event Support for various nonprofit organizations was authorized by Council through the FY2017 budget process.

All proceeds from the Prickly Pedal Mountain Bike Race go to support the Maricopa Trail and Park Foundation.

The Arizona Center for Germanic Cultures, Inc. is sponsoring the 11^th Anniversary of the Old World Oktoberfest and requesting support for $11,400 for City services and facility rental fees and permits.

The following options are possible for the City Council:

A.     Approve the affiliate event funding request for the Old World Oktoberfest in the amount of $11,400.

B.     Deny the affiliate event funding requests for the Old World Oktoberfest.

C.     Approve a partial amount for affiliate support for the Old World Oktoberfest.

Discussion and possible action to approve the recommended Affiliate Event Funding Request for Old World Oktoberfest to be held at Centennial Plaza on October 8, 2016.

This is a request for approval to allocate $11,400 to the Old World Oktoberfest event. A supplemental request in the amount of $70,000 for Affiliate Event Support was funded through the FY2017 budget process. Funding this request leaves a total affiliate funding balance of $58,600.

These funds are available in, and will be expended from, the Special Events budget (1000-1510-522004).
