Pursuant to Arizona Law the City must make a recommendation to the State Liquor Board regarding the approval of applications to sell alcoholic beverages in the City.  The Standard for the City’s recommendation is whether the best interest of the community will be served by the issuance of these licenses and whether the public convenience is served.

El Alboroto Mariscos & Chavelas, is a new restaurant located at 8427 W. Peoria Avenue. The previous restaurant at this location was Ayala’s AZ Kitchen. The new owners have applied for a New Restaurant (Series 12) Liquor License.  The application agent is Jose L. Fuentes.

A Series 12 Restaurant license is a non-transferable license that allows for the restaurant to sell and serve all types of spirituous liquor solely for consumption on the premises.  A Restaurant license requires that at least forty percent (40%) of the restaurant’s gross revenue comes from the sale of food.  Failure to meet the 40% food requirement may result in revocation of the license.

Quintero Golf Club is an existing golf club, located at 16752 W. State Route 74.  Quintero Golf Club currently has a Series 12 (Restaurant) liquor license. The application agent is Randy D. Nations.

Series 06—permits a bar retailer to sell and serve spirituous liquors, primarily by individual portions, to be consumed on the premises and in the original container for consumption on or off the premises.

There are no staff concerns with Quintero Golf Club.  The public hearing notice was posted for at least 20 days, and no comments were received during the posting period. The license application was reviewed according to State law and all Departments gave approvals.

Fry’s Marketplace #657, is a new grocery store, located at 25401 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway. The owners have applied for a Location Transfer for an Off-Sale All (Series 09) Liquor License.  The application agent is Lauren K. Merrett.

A Series 09 liquor store license is a "quota" license available only through the Liquor License Lottery or through purchase on the open market.  Once issued, this type of liquor license is transferable from person to person and/or location to location within the same county.  It allows for a spirituous liquor store retailer to sell all types of spirituous liquors, only in the original unbroken package, to be taken away from the premises of the retailer and consumed off the premises.

There has never been a liquor license at 25401 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway.
