Wellness Program Awards

Purpose:

The City of Peoria has recently been recognized by the Arizona Department of Public Health and Maricopa County as a Gold Level Healthy Arizona Worksite award winner and by the Phoenix Business Journal as one of the valley’s “Healthiest Employers".

Background/Summary:

The Healthy Arizona Worksites Program builds collaboration among Arizona employers around worksite wellness. The program recognizes participating Arizona employers for their leadership and commitment to the health of their employees and the state’s business community.

The City of Peoria is one of twenty seven (27) organizations state-wide receiving the Gold designation, including two other cities, Goodyear and Mesa. The Gold designation is the highest level and recognizes that the City of Peoria has an active and comprehensive wellness program with institutional support and integrated worksite health programs with business policies and benefits. This level of award highlights wellness programming that is data and outcomes driven.

The Healthiest Employer awards program recognizes organizations that are committed to creating a healthy workplace. The award utilizes an online assessment that measures wellness programming in six key categories: leadership commitment, communication, foundational components, programs and interventions, strategic planning and reporting and analysis.

The list below demonstrates key events and initiatives that have increased the Wellness Committee’s presence in the organization over the past 12 months:
