Board and Commission Appointments 

Purpose:

This is a request for City Council to appoint/reappoint board and commission members as recommended by the Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee as follows:


Arts Commission

 

Reappoint Lizabeth Gordon and Suzanne Roy as regular members of the Arts Commission for terms to expire in June, 2021. 

 

Economic Development Advisory Board

 

Reappoint Neil Terry as a regular member of the Economic Development Advisory Board for a term to expire June 2021. 

 

Library Board

 

Reappoint Nelson Benton and Leslie Fountain as regular members of the Library Board for terms to expire June 2021. 

 

Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Local Fire Board

 

Reappoint George Johnson as a regular member of the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Local Fire Board for a term to expire June 2021.

 

Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Local Police Board

 

Reappoint George Johnson as a regular member of the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Local Police Board for a term to expire June 2021.

 

 

Youth Advisory Board

 

Appoint Marin Clark as a regular member to the Youth Advisory Board for a partial term to expire June 2018; and reappoint Nicholas Benedict, Greg Helt, Frank Johnson and Shireen Kimbell as regular members of the Youth Advisory Board for terms to expire June 2019.

Background/Summary:

The Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee makes recommendations for board and commission membership based on term expirations and vacancies from resignations or changes to member eligibility status. 

Previous Actions:

On February 28, 2017 the Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee made appointment and reappointment recommendations to various Boards and Commissions.

 

On March 6, 2017, a memorandum was submitted to Mayor and Council, outlining the appointment recommendation from the February 28, 2017 Subcommittee meeting, asking for concerns to be submitted in writing to the Mayor.  No comments were received.

Options:

A.  Appoint recommended board and commission members.

 

B. Continue recruitment efforts to fill the board and commission vacancies.
Staff Recommendation:

Discussion and possible action to approve the recommendations from the Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee pertaining to the following appointments and reappointments, and adopt Resolutions as presented: 

 

  • Adopt  RES. 2017-37 reappointing Lizabeth Gordon and Suzanne Roy as regular members to the Arts Commission for terms to expire in June 2021; and

  • Adopt RES. 2017-38 reappointing Neil Terry as a regular member to the Economic Development Advisory Board for a term to expire June 2021; and

  • Adopt  RES. 2017-39 reappointing Nelson Benton and Leslie Fountain as regular members to the Library Board for terms to expire June 2021; and

  • Adopt RES. 2017-40 reappointing George Johnson as a regular member to the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Local Fire Board for a term to expire June 2021; and

  • Adopt  RES. 2017-41 reappointing George Johnson as a regular member to the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Local Police Board for a term to expire June 2021; and

  • Adopt RES. 2017-42 appointing Marin Clark as a regular member to a partial term to expire June 2018; and reappointing Nicholas Benedict, Greg Helt, Frank Johnson and Shireen Kimbell as regular members to the Youth Advisory Board for terms to expire June 2019.
Fiscal Analysis:

There is no fiscal impact regarding this item.

Narrative:

Certificates of Appointment will not be presented at a future City Council meeting.
