| Budget Amendment, Percent for the Arts |

| | | | | | | | Purpose:
This is a request for City Council to authorize the use of Percent for the Art fund reserves and approve a budget transfer in the amount of $25,000 which includes contingency, for the repair and final installation of the art piece “Sunset Flight” located at Camino a Lago Park.

| | | | | | | | Background/Summary:
“Sunset Flight” was delivered in January of this year. Unfortunately, the piece was subject to vandalism only days after installation impacting its structural integrity. The art piece, originally fabricated with aluminum will be upgraded with stainless steel while maintaining the artistic representation and intent. After consult with local fabricators, it was determined that stainless steel will be more durable in this active park environment and the Arizona climate. Staff will work with a metal fabricator to repair and reinstall the structure.

On January 5, 2016, the City Council awarded the contract to the Art Commission chosen artist.

A: City Council can approve the budget transfer from the Percent of the Arts fund for repair and final installation.
B: City Council can choose to not approve a budget transfer from the Percent of the Arts fund for repair and final installation.

Discussion and possible action to approve the budget transfer in the amount of $25,000 from the Percent for the Arts Contingency account to the Percent of the Arts, Grounds Detention Repair and Maintenance account for the repair and final installation of the art piece “Sunset Flight” located at Camino a Lago Park. |

Request authorization to use the Percent of the Arts Contingency reserves and approve a budget transfer in an amount of $25,000 from the Percent for the Arts Contingency account 1111-0120-570000 to the Percent of the Arts, Grounds Detention Repair and Maintenance account 1111-0120-524004.
The Percent for the Arts Fund is intended to provide resource for the installation, repair and maintenance of the city’s public art collection.
