Board and Commission Appointments/Reappointments 
Purpose:

Discussion and possible action to approve the recommendations from the Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee and adopt RES. 2018-49 appointing/reappointing members to various Boards and Commissions.
Summary:

The Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee makes recommendations for board and commission membership based on term expirations, vacancies from resignations, or changes to member eligibility status.
Previous Actions/Background:

On March 27, 2018 the Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee made appointment recommendations to various Boards and Commissions.

 

On March 29, 2018, a memorandum was submitted to Mayor and Council, outlining the appointment/reappointment recommendations from the March 27, 2018 Subcommittee meeting, asking for concerns to be submitted in writing to the Mayor. No comments were received.

Options:

A: Appoint/reappoint recommended board and commission members.

 

B: Continue recruitment efforts to fill the board and commission vacancies.

Staff Recommendation:

This is a request for City Council to appoint/reappoint board and commission members as recommended by the Council Boards and Commissions Subcommittee as follows:

 

Arts Commission

Reappoint Julia Smock as a regular member for a term to expire June 2022.

 

Board of Adjustment

Reappoint Cecil Daniels as a regular member for a term to expire June 2022.

 

Design Review Board

Appoint Glenn Bonita, Charles Hoskins and Jim Schulz as regular members for terms to expire June 2022, June 2021 and June 2020, respectively.

 

Economic Development Advisory Board

Reappoint Jeff Berggren and appoint Anoop Kumar and Debra Roubik as regular members for terms to expire June 2022.

 

Industrial Development Authority

Reappoint Michael Bellard and appoint Debra Roubik as regular members for terms to expire June 2024 and June 2023, respectively.

 

Judicial Selection Advisory Board

Appoint Lori Horn Bustamante as a regular member for a term expire June 2022.

 

Parks and Recreation Board

Reappoint Richard Ward as a regular member for a term to expire June 2022.

 

Personnel Board

Reappoint Joanne Brooks as a regular member for a term to expire June 2022.

 

Public Defender Contract Review Committee

Reappoint Joe LaRue as a regular member for a term to expire June 2022.

 

Volunteer Firefighter Pension Board

Reappoint Henry Cota as a regular member for a term expire June 2022.

 

Youth Advisory Board

Reappoint Marin Clark, Cassidy Gatrost, Brighton Greathouse, Cailet Popelier, Maria Stump and Tayler Wing as regular members for terms expire June 2020.

 

Appoint Liam Beltram, Tyrin Clay, Juliette Garcia and Victoria Kisseberth as regular members for terms to expire June 2020 and Ashley Lopezlira as a regular member for a partial term to expire June 2019.
