| Election of Mayor Pro Tem |

| | | | | | | | Purpose:
Discussion and possible action to establish a term length, nominate and elect a Mayor Pro Tem to serve during the absence of both the Mayor and Vice Mayor. |
| | | | | | | | Summary:
The Mayor Pro Tem shall perform the duties of the Mayor in the absence or disability of both the Mayor and Vice Mayor. At the January 9, 2018 City Council meeting, Councilmember Hunt was elected Mayor Pro Tem to a one-year term. An election for a new Mayor Pro Tem and the establishment of term length is necessary. The procedure for nomination and election of Mayor Pro Tem is as follows:
- City Council will first establish the term length by a motion and vote.
- Subsequently, the Mayor will open the floor for nominations. The Mayor will then state which Councilmembers have been nominated and the Council will vote by ballot which will be verbally recorded by the City Clerk.

This is an annual or biannual action taken by City Council pursuant to City Charter. The elected Mayor Pro Tem will serve in the manner prescribed in Chapter 2, Section 2-17 of the Peoria City Code. |

This is a request for City Council to discuss and take action to establish term length, nominate, and elect a Mayor Pro Tem. |
