Public Transit 2022-2025 Title VI Plan Update 

Purpose:

Discussion and possible action to approve the Federal Transit Administration required 2022 - 2025 Title VI Plan update for the City of Peoria Transit Division.

Summary:

As required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, “No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.” Every three years, recipients of federal funding for transportation related programs must submit an updated Title VI Plan that documents compliance with federal Title VI guidelines. The City of Peoria Transit Division receives federal funds to assist with transit programs. In collaboration with Valley Metro and the City of Phoenix, staff has completed the Peoria Title VI Plan update.

 

There are no significant changes from the document that was submitted to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in 2019.

Previous Actions/Background:

The last Peoria Title VI Plan update was approved by City Council on February 19, 2019.

Staff Recommendation:

This is a request for council to approve the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) required 2022 - 2025 Title VI Plan update for the City of Peoria Transit Division.

Fiscal Analysis:

Approval of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) required 2022 - 2025 Title VI Plan update will allow the City of Peoria to be in full compliance and continue to be eligible for federal transportation grants.
