SUBJECT:
State Library Grants-in-Aid

Purpose:

Discussion and possible action to: (a) accept the State Library Grants-in-Aid of $8,964 from the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records Office to support the library’s materials collection; and (b) authorize a budget amendment of $8,964 from the Contingency to the Main Library Division.

Summary:

The Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records administers the State Grants in Aid (SGIA) program and has awarded the Peoria Public Library an $8,964 grant for Fiscal Year 2024. Funds will be used to purchase new titles in our most popular collections for families and children. This focus is supported by a recent statistical analysis of the more popular library collections in our community. The library general plan details collection development as a priority to ensure that popular materials are available and our collection is relevant, as we regularly monitor trends and circulation data.

Previous Actions/Background:

There has been no previous action on this item.

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends City Council: (a) accept the award of SGIA funds; and (b) approve a budget amendment of $8,964 from Contingency to the Main Library Division.

Fiscal Analysis:

This budget amendment has no fiscal impact to the city.  The amendment is to provide expenditure authority for funds received through a grant.  The matching fund requirement is available in the current operating budget.
