Summary:
The City of Phoenix Fire Department Health Center has been providing annual and pre-employment physicals to members of the Peoria Fire-Medical Department since 1986. The physicals provided by the Phoenix Fire Department Health Center are compliant with all nationally recognized firefighter medical physical standards including; the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)1500 – Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety, Health and Wellness Program; and NFPA 1582 – Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments. These physicals are provided on a fee for service basis.
The physicals serve as an initial baseline measurement for Recruit Firefighters, while providing a mechanism to track trends in firefighter health over the course of the employee’s career.
This Intergovernmental Agreement does not prohibit the City of Peoria from entering into any other agreements for physical examinations or using any other medical facility or physician, but merely formalizes a relationship between the City of Phoenix and the City of Peoria.
