| | | | | | | | SUBJECT:
| Budget Amendment and Contract Change Order, Capital Improvement Projects, Pavement Management Program, Rehabilitation and Pavement Preservation |
|
| | | | | | | | Purpose:
Discussion and possible action to approve a budget amendment and change order for $250,000 with contractor, ViaSun Corporation, for additional expenses related to On-Call Contract, ACON34520 for the application of Asphalt Seal Coat and Slurry Seal in the Springer Ranch and Morlen Estates communities. |
| | | | | | | | Summary:
This requested project was not part of the original FY 2024 approved areas to receive micro-surfacing, slurry seal and asphalt seal coat to roadways and communities identified by the pavement management system, throughout the City. The approved projects started as scheduled, when an unexpected equipment failure on a Public Works Solid Waste vehicle resulted in a hydraulic leak on the roadways in the Springer Ranch community. Upon greater inspection within the community, it was determined that the roads preexisting degradation warranted a pavement management preservation treatment sooner than originally identified. The Public Works Department, Streets Division completed an evaluation of the Springer Ranch and Morlen Estates communities and determined that the most efficient and cost effective approach to address the current pavement condition is to remove the sections of asphalt that are degraded, and apply appropriate surface treatments. The total project impact is $250,000. |
| | | | | | | | Previous Actions/Background:
None. The City Council previously approved expenditures, with the ViaSun Corporation in the amount of $4,909,316 for the application of Micro-Surfacing, Slurry Seal and Asphalt Seal Coat in communities and roadways throughout the City, did not include the two areas mentioned above. |
| | | | | | | | Staff Recommendation:
