| Economic Development Strategic Plan |
|
| | | | | | | | Summary:
Peoria’s Economic Development Service (EDS) department is dedicated to creating a business-friendly environment where companies seek to locate or expand. The mission has two parts; first, strive to offer the residents of Peoria the opportunity to work near home by attracting great employers and secondly, EDS works to attract great amenities so residents can dine, shop and play near home. Success drives income, sales and use tax revenues that help fund the City’s services and growth plans. Ultimately, EDS strives to deliver a higher quality of life for Peoria residents.
Economic Development specifically resolves to:
- Create 3,000 new jobs by attracting new businesses and growing Peoria’s existing business base; and
- Contribute an additional $450M to retail tax revenues by attracting valuable and exciting new amenities (i.e., services, dining, shopping, and recreation options).
To help achieve the Council's vision, EDS will work towards four economic development goals over the next five years. These goals were chosen to help Peoria grow economically, build a workforce with robust skills, and attract more tourists. |
