Discussion and possible action to recommend approval to the State Liquor Board for:

A New Wine and Beer (Series 10) Liquor License for Rohans Supermarket, located at 8322 West Olive Avenue, Rohan Pasricha, Applicant, LL#24-000601.

Rohans Supermarket, is an existing Valero gas station, located at 8322 W. Olive Avenue. The owner has applied for a New Wine and Beer (Series 10) Liquor License.  The application agent is Rohan Pasricha.

Series 10—permits the retail sale of beer and wine for consumption off premises.

Some of the businesses around Rohans Supermarket are Circle K, AMF Peoria Lanes and Parc Roundtree Ranch Apartments.  There are no staff concerns with Rohans Supermarket.  The public hearing notice was posted for at least 20 days, and no comments were received during the posting period.  The license application was reviewed according to State law and all Departments gave approvals.

In June 2016, the Mayor and Council recommended approval to the Arizona State Liquor Board for Valero for a New Wine and Beer (Series 10) Liquor License located at 8322 W Olive Avenue.

Pursuant to Arizona Law the City must make a recommendation to the State Liquor Board regarding the approval of applications to sell alcoholic beverages in the City. The standard for the City’s recommendation is whether the best interest of the community will be served by the issuance of these licenses and whether the public convenience is served. Staff recommends approval of the above licenses.
