SUBJECT:
Concepts for the Municipal Complex Entry Plaza

Purpose:

To introduce the Mayor and Council, and the public at large, to the preliminary design concepts developed for a new entry plaza at the Peoria Municipal Complex.  Information will be shared on how Peoria citizens can digitally view the concepts and submit feedback.

Summary:

The City of Peoria has approved capital resources to redevelop the ‘front yard’ of the Municipal Complex located at 84th Avenue and Monroe Street.  In late 2023, an initial phase of construction removed the dilapidated fountain structure and infilled the fountain basin with engineered soils to make ready for future redevelopment.  Staff have commissioned design concepts that respond to the priorities expressed by the Mayor and Council.  The collective feedback of the elected officials and Peoria’s citizens will be taken into consideration as staff moves forward in the design process.

Assuming positive feedback on a preferred concept, the project will proceed through design and permitting toward a construction start in calendar year 2025.  This project’s construction will intentionally follow the re-roofing and weatherization of City Hall which must use the project site for contractor staging.
