Discussion and possible action to: a) accept the State Grant in Aid of $8,559 from the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records Office to support the library’s materials collection; and b) authorize a budget amendment of $8,559 from Contingency Fund to the Main Library division.

The Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records administers the State Grant in Aid (SGIA) program and has awarded the Peoria Public Library an $8,559 grant for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. Staff will use these funds this fiscal year to focus on the collections in youth and increase its available titles for families and children. This focus is due to a statistical analysis to determine the more popular library collections in the community. This is part of the general plan to keep popular materials available and the collection relevant as staff regularly monitors trends and the requests of patrons.

Staff recommends that Council: a) accept the award of SGIA funds; and b) approve a budget transfer of $8,559 from Contingency to the Main Library division.

This budget amendment has no fiscal impact to the city.  The amendment is to provide expenditure authority for funds received through a grant.  The matching fund requirement is available in the current operating budget.
