Surplus Land Disposal, East Side of Lake Pleasant Parkway South of Avenida del Sol 

Purpose:

Discussion and possible action to adopt RES. 2024-69 authorizing the City Manager to execute the necessary documents to complete the land transfer for the disposal of a fifteen-foot strip of land on the East side of Lake Pleasant Parkway South of Avenida del Sol to the successful bidder of Solicitation No. P25-0007 Bid for Sale of Surplus Land, LSP Peoria Development, LLC.

 

 

 

 

 

Summary:

In 2004, the City acquired a fifteen-foot strip of land as a fee parcel as part of the Lake Pleasant Parkway Phase 3A project.  The City sought to originally acquire an easement from the larger parcel to fulfill the project needs but ultimately negotiated to acquire the fifteen-foot strip of land as fee ownership.  The adjacent parcel was recently purchased and the new owner is actively working with the City to develop the land.  They submitted a request to the City to acquire the fifteen-foot strip with the understanding that the City would retain the rights to allow for the current uses to remain within that footprint.  City Council approved the adoption of Resolution 2024-49 declaring the subject land as surplus and allowed for the land to be made available for bid per Solicitation No. P25-0007.  The land transfer to LSP Peoria Development will complete the disposal process.

Previous Actions/Background:

6/18/24  – Council approved a Resolution declaring the subject parcel as surplus land.

Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends that City Council approve the adoption of the attached Resolution to complete the land transfer for the disposal of surplus City land.

Fiscal Analysis:

Minimal title company fees will be paid from the purchase price proceeds.
