Discussion and possible action to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Phoenix to allow Peoria Fire-Medical use of various fire apparatus owned by Phoenix on an as-needed basis. 

The Peoria Fire-Medical would like the ability to use various Phoenix Fire Department apparatus on an as-needed loan basis to benefit public safety if such use is not detrimental to operations at the Phoenix Fire Department.

Peoria Fire-Medical shall use the loaned equipment in a careful and proper manner and solely for the purpose of fire prevention and firefighting. The department further shall comply with and conform to all national, state, municipal, and other laws, ordinances and regulations in any way relating to the possession, use or maintenance of the loaned equipment. Peoria Fire-Medical at its cost and expense, shall keep the equipment in good repair, condition and working order, and shall replace parts, mechanisms and devices required to keep the loaned equipment in good mechanical working order, including completing any repairs or maintenance required under and in accordance with City of Phoenix specifications. Peoria Fire-Medical shall pay all operating cost while in possession of the loaned equipment.

The City of Peoria and City of Phoenix are active partners in the automatic aid system. This Intergovernmental Agreement will not only benefit Peoria, but the system communities, including Phoenix, as well. 

Staff’s recommendation is to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Phoenix to allow Peoria Fire-Medical use of various fire apparatus owned by Phoenix on an as-needed basis.
