Discussion and possible action to approve the repurposing of $61,500 in one-time supplemental funds from Police Specialty Assignment Unit Operating Supplies to Police Travel and Training. 

The Police department submitted a one-time supplement request in FY25 budget to purchase tactical vests for members of a specialty unit.  This request was approved at $61,500.  The department has since received a donation for the vests and would like to reallocate these funds to provide additional training to high liability areas as such:

·         SWAT - $21,500

·         K9 - $5,000

·         Traffic - $5,000

·         Leadership training- $10,000

·         Criminal Investigations - $15,000

·         Communications - $5,000

The Police Department was awarded limited supplemental funding for training in FY25.  Repurposing these funds would allow for the above-mentioned divisions to receive specialized training.

Staff recommends City Council to approve the repurpose of $61,500.00 in one-time supplement funds from Police SAU (Specialty Assignment Unit) Operating Supplies to Police Travel and Training.
