Each year, the Peoria City Council provides Peoria youth with the opportunity to serve as non-voting members at City Council meetings.  Known as the "Youth Council Liaison Program," it is designed to provide Peoria youth with a positive civic experience on the art of governance, and an opportunity to share youths’ perspectives. Manya Tewari and Sarah Adamsha were sworn in as the two Youth Council Liaisons on August 20, 2024, and served in that capacity throughout Fiscal Year 24/25. During that time, Ms. Tewari and Ms. Adamsha actively participated in City Council meetings, attended numerous community events, and provided youth perspectives on a number of City Council issues and policies. Their leadership and insight have been invaluable.

As we enter the 2025-26 fiscal year, new Youth Council Liaisons will be sworn in and bring an end to both Ms. Tewari and Ms. Adamsha’s term of service.  They will be recognized for their service on the Council as Youth Council Liaisons at the September 16th Council Meeting.
