| Intergovernmental Agreement, Arizona State Land Department, Lake Pleasant Parkway and Central Arizona Project Wellfield Project |
|
| | | | | | | | Purpose:
Discussion and possible action to approve a Well Site Agreement between the Arizona State Land Department and the City of Peoria. The agreement will be part of the auction terms for the well sites for the Peoria Wellfield Project within Arizona State Land Department owned land west of Lake Pleasant Parkway between the Loop 303 and the Central Arizona Project canal. |
| | | | | | | | Summary:
Peoria staff has been working with Arizona State Land Department (ASLD) to site new potable water wells and associated infrastructure in order to provide service redundancy and meet future water demands in northern Peoria. These wells are integral in the future development of the Peoria Innovation Core. The terms outlined in the agreement are specific to the use of the land should the city be the successful bidder for the auctioned properties.
The City entered into a similar agreement with ASLD in 2013, as part of the auction process for land needed to site a well at Lake Pleasant Parkway and Loop 303 which tied into the water transmission line within Lake Pleasant Parkway. This well was established to meet the future needs for development south of Loop 303. |
| | | | | | | | Previous Actions/Background:
The City entered into similar agreements in 2003 for Camino a Lago and in 2013 for the north Peoria well site. |
| | | | | | | | Staff Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of the Well Agreement with Arizona State Land Department. |
| | | | | | | | Fiscal Analysis:
Funding for the land acquisition and construction of the water infrastructure is available in the FY 2026-FY2035 Capital Improvement Program. |
