Unmarked vehicles are a vital tool for law enforcement agencies across the country, particularly in the areas of undercover operations, surveillance, and other specialized police functions. The ability to deploy unmarked vehicles provides significant advantages, particularly in operations that require discretion, such as the apprehension of suspects involved in criminal activities or monitoring high-risk situations.

The current requirement for all government vehicles to be marked under Arizona Statute 38-538 Et seq. presents an operational challenge for the Peoria Police Department in carrying out its policing services. An exemption to this statute would enhance the safety and effectiveness of the department, further ensuring that officers can maintain public order, prevent crime, and respond swiftly to incidents, all while protecting the confidentiality and integrity of certain law enforcement activities.
