Liquor License Application Various Locations 

Purpose:

Discussion and possible action to recommend approval to the State Liquor Board for:

 

 (a) a New Restaurant (Series 12) Liquor License for Four Corners Taphouse, located at 24762 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway #101, Joseph P. Lucidi, Applicant, LL#25-010654.

 

(b) a New Restaurant (Series 12) Liquor License for Jinya Ramen Bar, located at 8156 W. Happy Valley Road #10, Daradee R. Olson, Applicant, LL#25-010655.

 

 

 

 

 

Summary:

Four Corners Taphouse, is a new restaurant located at 24762 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway #101.  Previously this was Haymaker. The owners have applied for a New Restaurant (Series 12) Liquor License.  The application agent is Joseph P. Lucidi.

 

A Series 12 Restaurant license is a non-transferable license that allows for the restaurant to sell and serve all types of spirituous liquor solely for consumption on the premises.  A Restaurant license requires that at least forty percent (40%) of the restaurant’s gross revenue comes from the sale of food.  Failure to meet the 40% food requirement may result in revocation of the license.

 

Some of the businesses around Four Corners Taphouse are Target, Marshalls and BevMo.  There are no staff concerns with Four Corners Taphouse.  The public hearing notice was posted for at least 20 days, and no comments were received during the posting period.  The license application was reviewed according to State law and all Departments gave approvals.

 

Jinya Ramen Bar, is a new restaurant located at 8156 W. Happy Valley Road #10. The new owners have applied for a New Restaurant (Series 12) Liquor License.  The application agent is Daradee R. Olson.

 

A Series 12 Restaurant license is a non-transferable license that allows for the restaurant to sell and serve all types of spirituous liquor solely for consumption on the premises.  A Restaurant license requires that at least forty percent (40%) of the restaurant’s gross revenue comes from the sale of food.  Failure to meet the 40% food requirement may result in revocation of the license.

 

Some of the businesses around Jinya Ramen Bar are Safeway, Einstein Bros Bagels and Robeks Fresh Juice & Smoothies.  There are no staff concerns with Jinya Ramen Bar.  The public hearing notice was posted for at least 20 days, and no comments were received during the posting period.  The license application was reviewed according to State law and all Departments gave approvals.

Previous Actions/Background:

In June 2013, the Mayor and Council recommended approval to the Arizona State Liquor Board for a New Restaurant (Series 12) Liquor License for Haymaker, located at 24762 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway #101.

 

There has never been a liquor license at 8156 W. Happy Valley Road #10.

Staff Recommendation:

Pursuant to Arizona Law the City must make a recommendation to the State Liquor Board regarding the approval of applications to sell alcoholic beverages in the City. The standard for the City’s recommendation is whether the best interest of the community will be served by the issuance of these licenses and whether the public convenience is served. Staff recommends approval of the above licenses.
