Discussion and possible action to: (a) accept the State Library Grants-in-Aid of $8,517 from the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records Office to support the library’s materials collection; and (b) authorize a budget amendment of $8,517 from Contingency to the Main Library Division.

The Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records administers the State Grants in Aid (SGIA) program and has awarded the Peoria Public Library an $8,517 grant for Fiscal Year 2026. Funds will be used to purchase new titles in our most popular collections for families and children. This grant will be utilized to update the library collection based on a regular review by staff of key performance metrics for our collections and circulation data. The library general plan details collection development as a priority to ensure that popular materials are available and our collection is relevant.

Staff recommends that Council: a) accept the award of SGIA funds; and b) approve a budget amendment of $8,517 from Contingency Account to the Main Library Division.

This budget amendment has no fiscal impact to the city. The amendment is to provide expenditure authority for funds received through a grant. The matching fund requirement is available in the current operating budget.
