Discussion and possible action to authorize a budget amendment of $12,475 to increase salary and benefits for the reclassification of Arts and Culture Coordinator to Arts and Culture Supervisor.

As the department oversight of facilities and programs increases, the need for a supervisory position to manage these operations, vendors, and staff has also increased. The supervisor will be responsible for the operations of the existing Peoria Center for the Performing Arts and the newly renovated Arts and Culture Center at the historic schoolhouse in Downtown. The supervisor is integral to the planning and design of the Arts and Culture Center and will also be hiring the part-time staff and securing the exhibits and programs for the center when it opens in Fall 2026. The supervisor will also manage the Public Arts Program Manager who is responsible for the public art program, arts and culture grants, and outreach programs.

The Council has no previous action on this item. The reclassification and budget amendment request were reviewed and approved by the Finance and HR Executive Team Committee.

Staff’s recommendation is to approve the reclassification and budget amendment.

This action will have an estimated ongoing impact to the general fund of $12,475 per year and increasing annually with wage and benefits cost increases.
