Discussion and possible action to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Peoria and the Arizona Department of Child Safety. This Intergovernmental Agreement has been renewing every five years since 2014.  Peoria Police Department agrees to provide workspace for staff from the Office of Child Welfare and Investigations. All related expenses will be the responsibility of Office of Child Welfare and Investigations including staff and necessary equipment.

The purpose of this agreement is for the City of Peoria to provide facilities for the Office of Child Welfare and Investigations (OCWI) which is charged with investigating criminal conduct allegations of child abuse in conjunction with law enforcement agencies.  This agreement shall be effective for a term of five (5) years unless terminated sooner.

Peoria shall provide facilities to ADCS to assist law enforcement agencies in holding offenders accountable and assessing the long-term safety and best outcomes for children.  It is desirable to have centrally located facilities to provide OCWI investigations.  Peoria will provide office and conference space.  ADCS will provide the electronic equipment and supplies necessary for its staff including computers, telephones and internet/network access, etc. 

Staff recommend approving this Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Peoria and Arizona Department of Child Safety (ADCS).
