The terms for Mayor and Councilmembers in the Acacia, Palo Verde, and Pine Districts expire in January 2027.
A candidate Primary Election, and a possible candidate General Election, will be conducted to fill the seats.
Per City Charter, at the Primary Election, any candidate who shall receive a majority of all the votes cast at such election shall be declared elected to the office for which they are a candidate, and no further election shall be held as to said candidate. If no more than two candidates file nominating petitions for each vacancy in office, the Primary Election shall be dispensed with as to that office. If the candidates equal in number to the persons to be elected who shall receive the highest number of votes at said General Election, shall be declared elected to such office.
The August 4, 2026, Primary Election and November 3, 2026, General Election ballots will contain the following for consideration by eligible voters:
(a) Primary Election - Mayor and Councilmembers in the Acacia, Palo Verde, and Pine District.
(b) General Election - Mayor and Councilmembers in the Acacia, Palo Verde, and Pine Districts as necessary per City Charter, Article IX, Section 6.
(c) Additional items as directed by City Council, if necessary.
The deadline to call the General Election is May 7, 2026.
Candidates seeking municipal office may obtain nomination paperwork (petitions and other required forms) at the Office of the City Clerk.
Candidate nomination paperwork (petitions and other required forms) must be filed at the Office of the City Clerk no earlier than March 9, 2026, and no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 6, 2026 in order for candidates to have their names appear on the Primary Election ballot.
