Discussion and possible action to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement with the University of Arizona and Banner-University Medical Group. The proposed agreement with the Peoria Fire-Medical Department continues the existing arrangement with the current medical director and serves as a renewal of the prior contract.

This Intergovernmental Agreement will continue utilizing Dr. Gail Bradley as the Fire-Medical Department Medical Director through an affiliation with the University of Arizona and Banner-University Medical Group. Previously, Dr. Bradley was contracted as a single entity. This Intergovernmental Agreement retains Dr. Bradley as the Department’s Medical Director under the umbrella and with additional resources of the University of Arizona.  

Dr. Bradley has been the Fire-Medical Department’s Administrative Medical Director since 2009. In 2019, the City issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Administrative Medical Direction. Dr. Bradley’s response to the RFP in affiliation with the University of Arizona was deemed the most qualified and best proposal through the City’s procurement guidelines. This Intergovernmental Agreement is the result of the proposal for Administrative Medical Direction. The Intergovernmental Agreement with the University of Arizona provides the city and the Department with more robust resources, including backup medical direction should Dr. Bradley be unavailable and access to the University of Arizona's training and research resources.

Staff’s recommendation is to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement to provide Medical Direction with the current Medical Director, Dr. Gail Bradley, in affiliation with the University of Arizona and Banner-University Medical Group.
