| | | | | | | | SUBJECT:
| Budget Amendment, Peoria Sports Complex Facade Improvement |
|
| | | | | | | | Purpose:
Discussion and possible action to approve a budget amendment in the amount of $800,000 for the facade renovation to the Peoria Sports Complex. |
| | | | | | | | Summary:
The Sports Complex stadium has served Peoria well, but has not been refreshed in approximately two decades. Proposition 302, approved by Maricopa County voters in 1999, provides revenue from the sales tax on rental vehicles and a 1% hotel tax to support tourism including stadiums and stadium improvements in the Cactus League.
Peoria wishes to leverage a portion of these dollars for the facade improvement project. The improvements include a new stadium marque, paint, shade, planters and bollards. Matching funds will come from the Half Cent Sales Tax Fund.
Staff will use this opportunity before Mayor and Council to present other stadium improvements underway or completed as Spring Training 2026 approaches. |
| | | | | | | | Staff Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of the budget amendment. |
| | | | | | | | Fiscal Analysis:
The facade improvements have a cost of approximately $1.3 million. $500,000 will come from Proposition 302 funding and the balance from the Half Cent Sales Tax.
